The Kosovan Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV) has reported significant instances of non-compliance within the national milk sector, revealing issues related to unapproved ingredients, including palm oil. The AUV announced the findings following testing conducted between April and July, which examined bulk overproduction of milk products. Of the 495 samples tested, the Agency identified 93 instances of non-compliance across borders and processing facilities.
A substantial portion of these irregularities, specifically 46 cases, involved the presence of unapproved palm oil in the products. Further investigation revealed systemic issues within the supply chain. Approximately one out of every five milk producers tested in Kosovo was found to have undeclared status, suggesting that processors were operating within a system that systematically acquired non-compliant product.
The report specifically implicated the milk producer brand “Vita” in connection with these findings. These official announcements highlight regulatory concerns regarding ingredient standards and production oversight within the country’s dairy industry. The AUV’s findings underscore the need for stricter monitoring across the entire sector to ensure that all milk products meet established safety and compositional guidelines, particularly concerning additives like palm oil.
