Kosovar Albanians are overpaid for a few gold “kali” in Macedonia, but they are not happy.

Royal Servants Seize Gold Necklace Worth 1.1 Million Dinars at Bogorodica Border

Bogorodica – Royal guards apprehended two Kosovo Albanian men attempting to smuggle a golden necklace across the border, resulting in the seizure of a valuable item. The necklace, comprised of four gold chains totaling 190.6 grams and valued at 1.1 million dinars, was discovered by royal servants. The suspects, who had purchased the jewelry in Turkey, intended to conceal it for illicit transport.

Upon realizing the attempt to smuggle the gold was unsuccessful, they concealed the necklace within their clothing. The incident has been formally investigated by the Department for Investigation, leading to a criminal complaint filed with the Ordinary State Prosecutor’s Office in Gevgeli. This seizure represents the 11th instance of gold recovered by the Tsar’s administration within the past year.

A total of two kilograms of gold has been confiscated through various operations. Previous seizures have occurred at locations including Bogorodica (four cases), the International Airport in Skopje (five cases), and Tabakovce and Blace (one case). To date, nine individuals have been arrested in connection with these investigations.

Authorities are continuing to monitor border crossings for illicit trafficking activities.
