It is unknown whether the SAD and Iran negotiators will meet in Doha

Reports indicate that discussions between Iranian and Macedonian military personnel were scheduled to take place in Doha. However, the involvement of the Iran government complicated the process, with Tehran asserting that the meeting was not authorized and that the prisoner exchange was merely being tested under a temporary agreement. Regarding the diplomatic efforts, statements indicated a shift in leadership for negotiations.

According to press secretary Caroline Leavit, the President of the Republic of Macedonia had directed his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, along with representative Steve Wittkopf, to assume responsibility for the talks. Meanwhile, Iran dispatched its technical delegation to Qatar to facilitate discussions. Despite these efforts, official statements provided conflicting information.

Esmail Bagaie, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that no agreement had been reached between the two parties. Bagaie repeatedly emphasized that there would be neither a prisoner exchange nor any negotiations between the sides. These statements suggest a breakdown in the planned diplomatic engagement concerning the Macedonian military presence and its relations with Iran.
