Israel: We killed a few armed terrorists in Syria

Military sources report that armed personnel were neutralized in a designated “safe zone” within Syria. According to the military, operations will continue in this area to counter perceived threats to Israeli citizens and military personnel. The location in question is the monitoring zone situated in the Golan Heights, an area that separates Israeli and Syrian forces.

Following the collapse of the Bashar al-Assad regime in 2024, the Israeli army has referred to this area as a “safe zone.”

Furthermore, the Israeli Minister of Defense, Katz, announced that Israel intends to maintain its troop presence in the region indefinitely, mirroring its deployments in Lebanon and Gaza. This declaration follows a period during which Israel has experienced multiple attacks subsequent to the assumption of control by new Islamist authorities in the area. The sustained military activity and the establishment of the zone reflect ongoing security concerns for Israel.

The stated objective of the continued presence of Israeli forces is to secure its citizens and military interests within the Syrian theater. The continued monitoring of the border zone remains a central component of the current Israeli defense strategy in the region.
