In two catastrophic earthquakes in Venezuela, 32 people died and 700 were injured, it is reported that there will be many more casualties

Two major earthquakes struck Caracas within a span of ninety seconds, with the initial quake registering a magnitude of 7.2 and the second measuring 7.5. Relief teams are currently managing the aftermath of subsequent aftershocks. In response, Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez declared a state of emergency and conveyed condolences, though he did not specify casualty figures.

Preliminary reports indicate that at least 32 people have died, and approximately 700 individuals have been injured; however, there is a recognized possibility that the actual number of casualties will rise. Furthermore, an analysis from a US geological company previously assessed a 44% probability of more than 10,000 casualties and a 30% probability of exceeding 100,000. In the wake of the seismic events, leaders across Latin America called for support and solidarity.

US President Donald Trump also issued calls for assistance. The ongoing efforts of relief teams are focused on stabilizing the area amidst the residual tremors from the two significant earthquakes.
