The president of the SDA, Donald Trump, is not going to save Ukraine, said Van Acker to reporters in Berlin, adding that the EU should do much more for the negotiations and diplomacy. Merkel could have a balancing effect, he added. The name of the wounded secretary is on the agenda since May, and the Kremlin previously proposed her as a mediator, which, however, was rejected in Germany.
Van Acker said that this pretext is not serious, but with this initiative, Russia, for the first time, calls Merkel “a serious negotiator partner who can consider the prospects of the EU and who would be seriously considered by Moscow and Kiev.” Van Acker is sure that Merkel could be a serious negotiator partner for the left-wing party.
