Authorities in Liberia have reported the seizure of a substantial quantity of cocaine following a major law enforcement operation. The incident took place near the town of Droga, in an area connected to the Robert International Airport, approximately thirty kilometers from Monrovia. State prosecutors and the Minister of Justice confirmed that the successful operation led to the discovery of what they described as an “organized, sophisticated, complex, and well-funded drug trafficking network.” The investigation involved cooperation from representatives of two dozen foreign nations.
During the bust, investigators recovered an estimated 3,971 kilograms of processed cocaine. Officials stated that the street value of the seized narcotics was calculated at $317.7 million, equivalent to 279.1 million euros. The Liberian National Police released photographs detailing the scene, which included a large truck with an open cargo space that had been involved in the disturbance.
The scale of the seizure highlights the ongoing challenges related to the drug trade in West Africa.
