IF YOUR CHILD WAS FORCED TO BE CHILD WORKER IN THE SCHOOL, THEN YOU WILL BE PUNISHED – AND THE PARENTS OF THE CHILD WILL BE PUNISHED.

The Assembly has proposed amendments to the basic and secondary education laws, introducing a financial penalty of 250 euros for parents whose child faces expulsion from a school. According to the proposed changes, this fine would not be limited to a single incident but would be levied for every documented case of violence. Furthermore, the penalty would extend to parents or tutors who are mandated to work at the school following necessary post-treatment measures aimed at resolving behavioral issues.

These legislative amendments follow a series of significant and concerning incidents reported across the country’s educational institutions. Notable events cited include an assault at the OU “25 May” in Čento, which resulted in injuries to a 15-year-old student, as well as reports of violence occurring during the summer months in locations such as Gorce Petrov, Studenciani, and Sineglija. The proposed legislation also seeks to establish a broader, overarching responsibility for the school system itself.

The measures aim to enhance accountability across the educational environment. The amendments directly address concerns regarding student conduct and the necessary involvement of parents in maintaining a safe learning atmosphere. By implementing these stricter guidelines, the law intends to better safeguard the child within the school setting while defining clearer roles and consequences for all involved parties.
