One Djeko has signed a new contract with Schalke 04, a club anticipated to return to the Bundesliga for the upcoming season. The 40-year-old player, who hails from Bosnia and Herzegovina, agreed to a one-season deal with the “blue” team. Djeko previously featured for Schalke last season, notably serving as a substitute for players such as Filippo Inzaghi.

During that period, he made 11 appearances, contributing 6 goals and 3 assists. His time with the club included participation in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s World Cup campaign in Mexico and Canada, where he played for Heerenveen. Schalke’s sporting director, Jurij Miller, commented on Djeko’s recent contributions.

Miller stated that Djeko “brought something new to Schalke in the first four and a half months in the club.” He further noted that Djeko was considered a club player and a key figure for the coaching staff, whose personality and attributes set a positive example both on and off the pitch. Miller expressed confidence in the player’s ability to assist the team in the Bundesliga campaign. With the signing of this new contract, Djeko will be part of Schalke’s plans for their return to the top flight.
