The 244-kilometre-per-hour speed limit was exceeded by a 21-year-old driver from Batinci on the A1 motorway from Skopje to Gevgelija, which is the maximum allowed speed limit of 120 kilometers per hour, said the Ministry of Interior. Due to the extreme traffic jams, the police confiscated his license and detained his vehicle under the provisions of the prosecutor. According to the Ministry, the case was discovered on 13th June around 20:00 in the village of Miletkovo, near Gevgelija.
“Police officers found that I.R. (21) from Batinci was driving a passenger car “BMW” with Skopje registration plates with a speed limit of 244 kilometers per hour at a place where the speed limit is 120 kilometers per hour,” said the Ministry of Interior. A fine of 1000 euros will be imposed on the driver for operating a motor vehicle.
The 244-kilometer-per-hour speed limit is one of the highest recorded.
