Skopje Residents Charged in Separate Cases of Sexual Violence
Skopje authorities have formally charged a 56-year-old man and a woman following two separate incidents involving allegations of sexual violence. The first case involves a homicide investigation stemming from a domestic dispute. The victim, a 32-year-old woman, died after being fatally stabbed by her father.
The prosecution is pursuing charges under Article 144 and Article 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Macedonia, specifically aggravated threat to security. The initial report of 21 June 2026 at 12:44 details a sustained pattern of abuse allegedly perpetrated by the father against his wife and two children, aged 18 and 15. Prosecutors allege a prolonged history of intimidation and control within the household.
“If he had been known to be aggressive, measures would have been taken to ensure her safety, and the 15-year-old girl could not have been left vulnerable,” stated the prosecutor. In a related case, a second woman took action to escape a potentially dangerous situation. Details surrounding this incident are still emerging, but it highlights ongoing concerns regarding safety within the region.
Authorities are continuing to investigate both cases.
