Assembly Speaker Afrim Hashi expressed support for Prime Minister Miskovski’s proposals regarding the implementation of alternative voting methods, specifically electronic or mail-in ballots. However, Hashi stipulated that any such system must guarantee the proper identification of voters while maintaining absolute secrecy during the casting process. Furthermore, he called upon the coordinators of the postal groups to reach a consensus that transcends partisan lines regarding the necessary amendments to the Electoral Law.
Hashi added that the concept of electronic voting is also a priority within his own political affiliation, the Alternative party. Looking ahead to the legislative schedule, Hashi detailed several key dates. On July 13, the reconstruction of the Vlatadon is scheduled, which will include the election of new members to the body.
The following day, July 15, a new session is anticipated, with the presence of opposition parties expected. The legislative agenda culminates on July 20, when the overall settlement of the national budget is slated for discussion. Hashi’s statements underscore a push for modernization in the electoral process, contingent upon establishing robust safeguards for both voter integrity and ballot confidentiality.
