French Ambassador Le Rigoeler: The compromise and real reforms are a club for the EU

During an interview conducted for Portal.am, Christoph Le Riguoulier, the non-permanent envoy representing France and Germany, addressed the purpose of their efforts concerning the gradual integration of candidate countries into the European Union. Le Riguoulier clarified that this initiative does not intend to establish a permanent status quo or create a “second league” for nations within the Western Balkans. Instead, he emphasized that the core objective for France and Germany is to foster new dynamics within the region.

According to Le Riguoulier, the initiative is designed to ensure that candidate countries, including Macedonia, can reap the maximum benefits associated with full EU membership. Speaking about the significance of the French-German involvement, he stated that the effort carries several meanings. Primarily, he noted that it demonstrates the commitment and belief of France and Germany in this opening process.

The underlying idea, he explained, is that the initiative functions as a tangible signal that France and Germany are proactively embracing new regional dynamics. The discussion, which touches upon the broader diplomatic interests of the France embassy in Macedonia, reassures observers that the push is forward-looking. The focus remains squarely on accelerating the path toward full integration, thereby providing tangible advantages to all participating nations, including Macedonia, as they advance toward the goals of the European Union.
