Skopje Organizes Practical Tour Following Traffic Concerns
In response to concerns regarding lengthy bus journeys and increasing urban congestion, organizers of the “Traffic for All – Skopje” conference, hosted by “Go Green,” implemented a practical demonstration on Sunday. The initiative aimed to illustrate the potential benefits of improved public transport options within the city. The tour involved a five-minute journey utilizing a city bus operating on the Karpoš 4 – Vardar route.
The bus departed from its designated stop and arrived at the Skopje railway station. This route, typically requiring extended travel times by bus, was selected to highlight the efficiency gains anticipated from the planned BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system and accelerated rail transport. “Go Green” representatives emphasized that the introduction of these systems would discourage reliance on private vehicles and mitigate rising urban congestion.
The organization cited recent increases in car traffic as a key factor contributing to the problem. The demonstration focused on a single, straightforward bus route, showcasing a quick and reliable transit option for residents. The entire journey took just five minutes, demonstrating the potential for improved public transport connectivity.
