Fire in the vicinity of the Macedonian-Greek border in Dojran

An active fire near the Macedonian-Greek border in Dojran erupted on the morning of June 30, 2026, according to reports from the Crisis Management Center (CUK). The incident required a significant response effort. Initial reports indicated that firefighting operations commenced around 10:00 AM.

Responding units included two fire trucks from the voluntary fire brigade “Dojran,” supported by five firefighters. Additionally, personnel from the Gevgelija TPPA deployed one specialized vehicle and three firefighters to the scene. The affected area reportedly includes sections of the town and a police vehicle.

Officials from CUK in Gevgelija stated that the situation involved degraded smoke and that the fire’s spread was complicated by prevailing winds, causing it to move in multiple directions. While authorities confirmed that the blaze had not yet crossed into the neighboring Greek territory, it was located in the immediate vicinity of the Macedonian border. Local emergency services are actively managing the situation to contain the fire.

The ongoing efforts underscore the coordinated response required to manage incidents near the border region. Authorities continue to monitor wind patterns and smoke dispersal to ensure public safety within the Dojran area.
