Eurovision for BiH will be closed: Eve is the reason

The public service broadcaster of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) faces an ongoing suspension from participation in the prestigious Eurovision Song Contest. The primary reason cited for this exclusion relates to significant financial difficulties within the national broadcasting entity, BHRT, coupled with existing sanctions from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). BHRT has confirmed through the portal “ESC Today” that BiH will not be able to participate in the 2027 Eurovision contest.

The inability of the public service to take part stems directly from outstanding unpaid debts. These financial obligations have resulted in the continuation of the longest-standing sanctions previously imposed by the EBU on BHRT. Consequently, these unresolved financial issues continue to prevent Bosnia and Herzegovina from returning to the Eurovision stage.

Experts indicate that full participation in the festival remains contingent upon the successful resolution of these institutional financial problems. Furthermore, the former head of the national delegation has also been barred from participating in the event. The situation underscores the critical nature of financial compliance for national broadcasting participation in major European cultural events.

Until the necessary financial restructuring and debt settlements are achieved, the participation of BiH in the Eurovision Song Contest remains suspended.
