Children’s Clinic Staff Stage Protest Over Contract Dispute
A group of approximately fifty doctors, hygienists, and administrative staff from the Children’s Clinic staged a protest outside the Ministry of Health’s delegation on June 12, 2026. The demonstration centered on the continuation of current contracts for the clinic, which were initially established in January of this year. Protesters asserted that they have yet to receive any compensation payments as stipulated by the existing agreements.
One participant stated, “The Ministry of Health informed us of a lack of funds. We communicated this concern to the Ministry of Finance, but have not yet received a response.” Several individuals involved have been working under contract terms for periods of four to five years. The protest was organized collaboratively by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance.
Minister of Health Azir Aliu has not yet issued a formal statement regarding the situation. The core issue remains the unresolved compensation for the staff at the children’s clinic. The demonstration highlights ongoing concerns regarding funding and contract management within the institution.
