Chavouchtlo Questions EU Reform Process Following Name Change
Mevlut Chavouchtlo, representing Turkey by name and flag, raised concerns regarding the European Union’s recent actions following the renaming of Macedonia. Speaking at the international conference “Dialogue for Unity and Peace 2026” held in Skopje, Chavouchtlo questioned the necessity of a reform process initiated by the EU, arguing it should proceed without further political negotiation. The conference, attended by a diverse group of participants – including heads of armed forces, ministers, diplomats, university professors, investigators, and international organization representatives – focused on dialogue and unity.
Approximately 300 individuals are participating in the event, which began on June 24, 2026, at 9:02 a.m. Chavouchtlo’s comments followed his introduction at the conference. He specifically addressed the implications for the National Defense Ministry of Turkey and the role of the head of the Turkish delegation in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
The event aims to foster discussion among key stakeholders across various sectors, including defense, academia, and international business. The conference continues in Skopje, exploring avenues for strengthened cooperation and peaceful resolutions.
