BAN ON WATER PIPES IN PEHKOCHORI – a hole in the sewer system

Cassandra Imposes Temporary Water Ban Near Acrotiri Following Wastewater Outflow

The city of Cassandra has implemented a temporary ban on water pouring within a designated area near Acrotiri in Pefkochori, Halkidiki, due to a damaged sewer pipe and subsequent wastewater outflow. The preventative measure, enacted immediately, restricts the pouring of water from the shore and from a basin located 200 meters from both sides of the site. This restriction does not encompass the entirety of Pefkochori beach; it is specifically targeted at the affected area surrounding Acrotiri.

The ban will remain in effect until laboratory analysis confirms the sea is completely safe for recreational use. City services are currently focused on addressing the sewer defect and disinfecting the impacted zone. Authorities are urging all tourists and local residents to strictly adhere to the imposed restrictions and refrain from entering the sea within the designated area until the ban is formally lifted.

Safety remains the priority, and the public is advised to follow official guidance regarding water safety in the region.
