ASOM: The care for the citizens is hidden behind a state monopoly on the account of 10,000 employees who will remain on the street

ASOM Raises Concerns Over Proposed Games Law, Citing Potential Negative Impacts on Citizens

The Association of Sports Promoters of Macedonia (ASOM) presented its concerns to the Assembly’s Commission for Financing and Budget on June 19th, ahead of a final decision on the proposed Argument-Law for Games. ASOM argues the legislation carries significant risks for Macedonian citizens. The association contends that the proposed state monopoly, central to the law, is fundamentally linked to a diminished level of care for citizens.

ASOM’s presentation will detail how the state’s control over the gaming sector could lead to market monopolization, potentially exacerbating existing inequalities in financial support and mirroring concerns raised by the Turkish law. ASOM plans to share its key arguments with ambassadors and relevant experts. The group asserts that the proposed law’s structure hides a lack of proactive citizen support and risks creating a system of unbalanced financial distribution.

The association is advocating for a thorough review of the potential consequences before the final vote. The presentation was announced on June 18th at 12:23 PM.
