According to the ship’s commander, Commodore Metju Commer, the vessel experienced a serious engineering defect, which resulted in the failure of its generators and a subsequent power outage. Commodore Commer stated that the crew was deprived of essential amenities for four days, including drinking water, functional toiletries, bathing facilities, and air conditioning. He confirmed that the fifth case of the incident had been reported to the specialized service for America. The survey ship, identified as the “USS Benfold,” was involved in the incident on July 24th.
The commander attributed the ordeal to the engineering defect that caused the generators to fail, leading to the extended power loss. The situation required management of limited resources for the American personnel aboard the vessel.
