The Commission for Combating Discrimination and Safeguarding Human Rights issued a resolution concerning an incident where a Romani worker was called by an Albanian colleague based on his race and ethnic origin. The matter came to the attention of the company’s colleagues at the site where the position was vacant and where the employment contract termination decision was made. The employee returned the contract with the word “Shiftar,” but the Commission did not file a complaint with the CSDH.
The Commission stated that the disputed expressions constitute a form of reversible discrimination based on race, skin color, ancestry, and ethnic origin. Such language, according to the Commission, fosters an unfriendly and demeaning environment within the workplace. The Romani worker filed a complaint with the Commission in November 2025 against his Albanian colleague.
At the time of this filing, the CSDH had not submitted any corresponding complaint.
