AHV Stopped Shipment of Frozen Chicken Meat from Brazil
The Agency for Food and Veterinary (AHV) has stopped the import of over 23 metric tons of frozen chicken meat originating from Brazil. According to an announcement released today by the AHV, veterinary officials intercepted a shipment of 23,685 kilograms of frozen chicken meat on June 16, 2026, at 11:43 AM. The AHV stated that the shipment was rejected due to a violation of a previously issued decision prohibiting the import of live animals and animal products to safeguard against the introduction of highly pathogenic avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu.
Specifically, the frozen chicken meat was produced in January 2025, which falls under the terms of the ban prohibiting imports originating from animals that have been slaughtered, loaded, and transported. The AHV’s actions demonstrate its commitment to preventing the spread of avian influenza within the country. The AHV stopped the shipment to uphold biosecurity measures.
