Serbian Driver Faces Charges After Exceeding Speed Limit on Motorway
Skopje, North Macedonia – A Serbian national was apprehended on the Kocmanovo-Skopje motorway after being observed driving at a significantly excessive speed. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the incident occurred on Sunday when the driver was recorded traveling at 188 kilometers per hour. Police officers from the Mobile Unit were conducting routine speed checks when they detected the violation.
The driver was subsequently detained and his vehicle, a car, was impounded. The maximum permitted speed on that section of the motorway is 100 kilometers per hour. Following the infraction, the driver was taken into police custody for further investigation and processing.
“A radar scan indicated the driver’s speed was 188 kilometers per hour,” stated a police spokesperson. “Due to this serious violation, the vehicle was confiscated, and the driver was detained at the police station pending further action.”
The incident highlights ongoing police efforts to enforce speed limits and ensure road safety within the region.
