A meteor exploded over Massachusetts: The meteor broke apart from 120,000 km/h

Meteoroid Causes Seismic Activity in Massachusetts

A meteoroid traveling at speeds of approximately 120,000 kilometers per hour caused a significant tremor and shockwave across Massachusetts yesterday afternoon. The American space agency, NASA, confirmed that a bright meteor, or “fireball,” passed over the state at 14:06 local time. Initial assessments indicate the meteoroid exploded at an altitude of roughly 64 kilometers above northeastern Massachusetts and southeastern New Hampshire.

Scientists estimate the energy released during its disintegration was equivalent to an explosion of approximately 300 tons of TNT. NASA stated that the event was not linked to any active meteor showers and involved a natural meteoroid. The object broke apart as it traversed the atmosphere.

The tremor was felt across a wide area of Massachusetts, prompting reports from residents. Further investigation is underway to analyze the meteoroid’s composition and trajectory.
