The Macedonian government has established an energy policy centered on achieving maximum independence, promoting green transit, and aligning with European standards. This strategy involves the passage of new legislation and significant investments in renewable energy sources. The opposition party, VMRO-DPMNE, through Ždan Šavrov, has commented on these developments, noting that the new Energy Law and the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) for 2025-2030 are designed to enhance energy security and global stability.
Šavrov stated that the measures have created a “stable and predictable legal framework that will guarantee citizens’ security and attract serious investments.”
According to reports cited by Šavrov, the public call for investment initiatives related to the 2027 timeframe has already garnered substantial interest. As of June 1, 2026, over 800 investment proposals have been received. Furthermore, a finalized project has also been completed.
