Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Aleksandar Nikolovski, announced that the crucial 10-kilometer roadway linking Kičevo and Ohrid is slated for temporary closure. This necessary shutdown is scheduled to occur in the following months, as the project aims for its total completion sometime next year. Speaking during an appearance on the “Vesti Plus” television station, Nikolovski emphasized that the Ministry of Transport dedicated substantial capacity and resources to this infrastructure project, citing numerous pre-existing issues that required comprehensive remediation.
He detailed the scope of the work, noting that the vital route incorporates several complex engineering features, including galleries, bridges, viaducts, and what will become the longest tunnel in the state. The Minister indicated that the closure will impact specific segments of the road, including one section measuring 2 kilometers and another measuring 2.1 kilometers. Nikolovski confirmed that the road will be closed as construction crews finalize the integration of these major components.
