The procurement process concluded on Monday at the port in Thessaloniki with the anticipated arrival of the remaining light-foot vehicles from Straker company, facilitated through SAO. This delivery marks the finalization of negotiations with SAO, completing a contract valued at 339 million euros, which utilized the full allocated budget for the acquisition. During a press briefing reviewing the minister’s two-year tenure in procurement, several significant agreements were formally signed.
These acquisitions cover a wide array of military and technological assets. Specifically, contracts were established for the provision of light-foot weapons, alongside unmanned systems identified as “Puma” and “Raven.” Furthermore, cybersecurity upgrades were secured for both the Light-foot Battalion Group units and the Ministry of Procurement itself. The scope of the procurement also included acquiring Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC) for close air support, updated radio equipment, and the modernization of the Simulation Center located in Velos.
The signing ceremony confirmed the comprehensive nature of the deal, finalizing the procurement agreement totaling 339 million euros. The expected arrival of the final vehicles by the end of the month completes this major logistical and contractual undertaking.
