Skopje Playground Vandalized, Temporarily Closed
The “Patrik” children’s bathing facilities located behind the “Tri Biser” supermarket in the Airport area of Skopje have been temporarily closed following an incident of vandalism. The facility, recently renovated and considered among the most modern in the city, was subjected to a significant act of damage. Initial reports indicate that unruly individuals ransacked the property and its inventory, leaving a substantial amount of refuse and causing considerable financial damage.
Preliminary assessments suggest repair costs will be covered by increased euro expenditures. The incident gained public attention following a video released by youth activist Nikola Popovici. The video depicted children present at the scene being questioned about the damage, with one child stating that the matter was “none of their business.”
Mayor of the Airport Municipality, Dejan Miteski, confirmed that officials are addressing the serious and unacceptable vandalism, which he stated is a recurring issue within the municipality.
Investigations are underway, and efforts are being made to secure the site and assess the full extent of the damage. The temporary closure ensures the safety of the children who utilize the facilities. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
