EUROPEAN DRUG ALARM – Secession of non-compliance is considered a new psychoactive substance

European Authorities Issue Warning Over Rapidly Emerging Psychoactive Substances

The European Union is facing a growing threat from a surge in new psychoactive substances appearing on the continent’s drug market. According to the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA), a new substance is currently emerging roughly once a week, raising significant concerns among official representatives. The EUDA’s 2026 alert highlights the considerable risk posed by synthetic opioids, emphasizing that even a small quantity – just one gram – can yield a dozen fatal doses.

In 2025 alone, the agency anticipates the emergence of approximately 50 new drugs across Europe, predominantly synthetic opioids and cathinones. EUDA is actively monitoring over 1,000 novel substances, including the recently introduced “orfine” opioids, which have been widely marketed since 2024. Specifically, substances like cyclorphin and spirocloorfin are being tracked.

This escalating situation underscores the ongoing challenge for european law enforcement and public health officials to combat the proliferation of these new drugs. The agency’s continued surveillance and analysis are crucial in understanding and addressing this evolving threat within the european drug landscape.
