Struga, North Macedonia – At the opening of the 23rd Conference on Parliamentary Committees for European Issues/Integrations of the Stability and Association Process countries of Southeast Europe, Speaker of Parliament Afrim Gashi highlighted the critical need for coordinated European policies, solidarity, and strong partnerships to support the expansion of the European Union. Gashi stated that Western Balkan countries’ integration into the EU is significant, representing a connection rooted in shared values and historical ties. He emphasized the importance of regional cooperation as a key factor in accelerating the integration process.

“The enlargement of the European Union is one of the most important policies for the long-term stability, security, and prosperity of the entire European continent,” Gashi reportedly said. “Countries of the Western Balkans belong to the EU – not only geographically, but also in terms of values and history.”
