North Macedonian Prime Minister Announces Meeting to Address Rising Food Prices

Skopje – Prime Minister Xristijan Mickoski announced today that a meeting will be held within the government involving representatives from all distributors, retailers, and markets. The purpose of the meeting is to address concerns regarding rising prices, particularly for basic food products, following the easing of the ongoing crisis stemming from the Middle East. Mickoski stated that his message will be clear: “The crisis is ending, citizens have been tolerant, and now it is time for those involved in distribution and retail to address the needs of the public.” He emphasized a focus on reducing prices, especially for essential food items.

If distributors, retailers, and markets do not respond with price reductions, Mickoski indicated that the government will utilize available mechanisms to intervene. “Justifications and excuses will not be accepted,” he asserted. The government is prepared to employ available tools to lower prices.

The Prime Minister’s comments come amid ongoing public concern over rising costs for staple goods. The government is aiming to stabilize the market and ensure affordability for consumers.
