Significant Infrastructure Investments Planned for Municipalities Across North Macedonia
North Macedonia is set to invest heavily in local infrastructure projects, with fundraising efforts underway to support rehabilitation work scheduled through June 2026. The initiative aims to complete reconstruction projects across 72 municipalities, focusing on improving the condition of local streets. A substantial portion of the work has already been completed.
To date, 96 streets have been rehabilitated, totaling 72 kilometers. Furthermore, 31 kilometers are currently undergoing reconstruction, bringing the total length of completed rehabilitation to 103 kilometers. This extensive project utilizes support from both the ZELS and World Bank programs, encompassing both new construction and reconstruction efforts.
Minister for Transport, Aleksandar Nikolovski, recently announced a significant increase in support, intended to bolster the health and functionality of municipalities. As part of this expanded support, 49 vehicles of various types will be procured, with a particular focus on assisting the city of Skopje. The overall goal is to enhance transportation networks and improve services within the participating municipalities.
The rehabilitation efforts represent a key component of the government’s strategy for regional development.
