Vucic: “2,000 CROATIAN CITIZENS PARTICIPATED IN THE FORCED DEMONSTRATIONS IN SERBIA, they accused us of that”

President Aleksandar Vucic addressed the public in Tetovo on March 15th, responding to ongoing concerns regarding recent demonstrations. Vucic stated that approximately 2,000 ethnic Croats had been present in Serbia on that date. He clarified that Serbia has never formally accused Croatia of any wrongdoing related to this event.

“For these destructive demonstrations, police and ordinary people only think that they are planning something,” Vucic asserted. “More than 2,000 ethnic Croats studied in the prisons in Serbia on March 15 – they are studying for the Constitution.” He questioned the rationale behind heightened security measures, asking, “Did we ever accuse Croatia for that?”

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic had previously raised concerns, prompting Vucic to describe the situation as “lunatics” without committing a criminal act. He emphasized that the individuals were prevented from entering illegally and suggested a return invitation if one had been extended.

Vucic characterized the demonstrations as a potential effort to leverage intelligence, stating, “They did not do that, they are just waiting for additional intelligence to be added to make it.” The comments reflect ongoing tensions and a desire to de-escalate the situation within Serbia.
