Vize Air, operating from the Skopje airport, has announced the addition of a weekly flight service. In response to this development, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia and Minister of Transport, Aleksandar Nikolovski, along with Nedjat Kurt, General Director of TAV Macedonia, and András Szabó, Airline Development Officer at Vize Air, stated that the company functions as a de facto national airline for Macedonia. Officials cited the volume of flights and destinations as evidence of this status.
They highlighted significant growth metrics, noting that Vize Air transported 1.7 million passengers last year. In the first six months of the current year, the airline recorded 1.2 million passengers, indicating a substantial increase in activity. The representatives attributed these achievements to collaborative efforts across various sectors.
Speaking on the growth trajectory of the air transport sector in Macedonia, the officials pointed to a marked increase in capacity. They observed that achieving four million passengers annually, a figure previously considered ambitious, is now viewed as attainable. This expansion underscores the growing role of the private airline in connecting Macedonia both domestically and internationally, solidifying its position within the national air infrastructure.
