Russia Reports Military Activity Ahead of Economic Forum
Moscow – Russia announced on Tuesday evening the holding of a large public gathering in the Leningrad region, involving approximately 60 individuals from across the region, in preparation for the upcoming economic forum being broadcast by S-Ene. The event took place in the lead-up to the forum’s commencement. Governor of St.
Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, stated that three regions were targeted by recent Ukrainian drone attacks. These attacks resulted in damage to several civilian and infrastructure objects. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Russian air force successfully intercepted and destroyed over 350 Ukrainian drones.
Intercepts occurred both within the Leningrad region and further afield, including areas near Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Novgorod. Ukrainian forces conducted attacks on “critical infrastructure” in Smolensk, a city located in western Russia near the border with Belarus.
The reported activity underscores heightened tensions in the region as the economic forum progresses. Further details regarding the specific damage sustained are pending official assessments.
