Macedonian Trade Union Reports Significant Minimum Wage Decrease

Skopje – The Macedonian Trade Union of Trade Unions has reported a substantial reduction in the minimum wage for a four-person household, amounting to 88 dinars over the course of a single month. The union’s recently published trade union minimum wage report details the financial strain faced by low-income families. According to the report, the total harm caused by the minimum wage in June reached 68,654 dinars.

Further breakdown reveals specific costs: 84,024 dinars for housing expenses within a 60 square meter property, 25,120 dinars allocated for food, and 6,379 dinars for utilities. The report also outlines the cost of essential goods. Approximately 100 euros – equivalent to 6,511 dinars – is estimated for clothing and footwear for a four-person household.

These figures have emerged in the context of ongoing debate surrounding the Bulgarian veto on the constitution, linked to the reconstruction of the Sofia Visegrad Plan. Analyst Mićkoški suggests the issue is primarily a matter of political reconstruction. The union’s report highlights the economic pressures faced by families and underscores the impact of budgetary decisions on the daily lives of Macedonians.
