Macedonia to Discuss Revised Budget Amidst Deficit Adjustment
The Republic of Macedonia’s government will convene tomorrow to discuss revisions to the national budget. Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrievska-Kochoska announced the planned adjustments, which include a revised approach to addressing the budget deficit. Initial projections aimed for the complete elimination of the deficit, a goal now being adjusted upwards.
The revised budget anticipates an increased budget deficit, primarily driven by the need for expanded funding for capital investments. Alongside this, adjustments are being made to revenue projections. “We will have an adjusted budget deficit upwards and we will have a complete elimination of the budget deficit as a result of the adjusted consumption for funding capital expenditures, along with capital investments,” Minister Dimitrievska-Kochoska stated.
The adjustments also incorporate revisions to revenue streams, specifically referencing changes to excise duty resulting from prior policy measures. The discussion tomorrow will focus on implementing these changes and ensuring the long-term stability of the budget. The government intends to address the evolving financial landscape through strategic adjustments to both spending and revenue collection.

It’s concerning to see another budget adjustment, but hopefully this will lead to a more sustainable financial plan.
