Today you will be reminded that you are not “Europe”, over 35 degrees for 150 million lire

According to calculations by AFP, significant heat events are anticipated across the continent, affecting potentially hundreds of million people in Europe. The analysis indicates that at some point within the next day, at least 150 million people in Europe are projected to live in temperatures exceeding 35°C. Specific figures highlight major metropolitan areas, with more than 50 million people anticipated to experience these conditions in Germany, and more than 30 million in France.

Furthermore, the scope of the heat is extensive; more than 420 million people across Europe, excluding Turkey, are expected to face maximum temperatures surpassing 30°C—a figure representing approximately ten times the previous estimate. This assessment integrates forecasts from the German Meteorological Service with population projections for 2025 provided by the Joint Institute for Strategic Assessments. These resultant figures are consistent with reports issued by the Austrian non-governmental organization, Climate Action.

These projections represent a notable increase compared to previous estimates from the German Institute, which had revised forecasts for the preceding day, predicting temperatures above 35°C for 101 million people. The impact of the rising heat is not confined solely to the European mainland. The data underscores a widespread climatic event affecting more than just the population centers within Europe.
