Construction Plans Revived for Ambitious ‘Freedom Ship’ Project
Plans for the “Freedom Ship,” a massive, self-contained floating city, have been reactivated following a period of inactivity. The ambitious project, initially conceived decades ago, aims to accommodate a significant population and substantial visitor numbers. The proposed ship is designed to be approximately 1,609 meters in length and 244 meters wide, featuring 30 decks.
Estimated construction costs are projected to reach 13.9 billion euros. The concept envisions a combined population of 50,000 residents alongside space for 10,000 cruise passengers and daily visitors, supported by a crew of 20,000. The ship’s design incorporates a wide range of facilities, including a hospital, schools, retail spaces, restaurants, and hotels.
Recreational amenities are also planned, encompassing a stadium seating 15,000, a congress center, a water park, two museums, and a concert hall. To facilitate connections, plans include the construction of a bridge linking the ship to the mainland. The overall scale of this big ship project represents a significant undertaking in maritime construction.
Further details regarding the timeline and specific development phases are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
