Two drivers were apprehended yesterday for operating vehicles in the opposite direction on the Gostivar-Tetovo highway. According to the Ministry of Interior (MVR), police officers from the Traffic Safety Police Station in Tetovo detained V.M. from Bogovinje.
This individual was operating a Mercedes-Benz truck with Tetovo registration plates, which was traveling against the permitted direction of travel. Approximately an hour later, at the Tetovo toll ramp, police officers detained M.D. from Falishe.
This second driver was found operating a Volkswagen truck, also bearing Tetovo registration plates, and was likewise traveling in the opposite direction of the authorized route. Both drivers were initially warned by police on the scene that the route to Tetovo was closed due to safety concerns. Following these warnings, the police authorities intervened, removing the two vehicles from the designated travel path.
The intervention involving the Mercedes-Benz truck was reported on June 28, 2026, at 18:18. The police action ensured the two cars and trucks were moved away from the closed segment of the highway to maintain public safety.
