Macedonian text: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Mikhail_Mishustin_and_Nikol_Pashinyan_(2022-04-20)_03.jpg The pro-European party in Armenia won the parliamentary elections, confirming the orientation of the country towards Europe and the further decline of its traditional ally, Russia. The final results in the small country of the South Caucasus show that the “Grand National Contract” party of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has defeated the minority, led by the Russian-Armenian billionaire Samvel Karapetyan, who took 25% of the seats in parliament. The result, which will be well received in Brussels, but will be greeted with disappointment in Moscow, has prompted Pashinyan to pursue his characteristic and politically sensitive goal: a peace treaty with the long-standing enemy of Armenia, Azerbaijan.
