The Norwegian princess underwent a lung transplant: I am deeply grateful

The palace stated that the 52-year-old princess is currently in stable condition following her recent medical procedures. She is scheduled to undergo a six-month rehabilitation period, after which her condition will be closely monitored by medical professionals for potential complications, including signs of infection or organ failure. Doctors report that the typical recovery period following a lung transplant generally spans approximately one year.

The princess, identified as Met-Marit, was diagnosed with an incurable disease, necessitating the complex procedure. Regarding her recovery progress, the prince, Hakon, relayed to the palace that the princess has reported feeling unwell since the initial treatment. However, he also expressed a sense of optimism, stating, “I know that there is a recovery period and that complications can occur, so I feel very good that we have reached this point.”

The palace confirmed that the current assessment indicates the princess is “as good as she can be seen in these surroundings.” The focus now remains on managing the intensive rehabilitation phase and ensuring comprehensive post-operative care throughout the recovery timeline.

The medical team continues to oversee her progress to mitigate any risks associated with the significant transplant surgery.
