A Macedonian journalist, Oliver Brankovic, reported being attacked in Belgrade on July 5, 2026. The incident occurred when Brankovic was at a coffee shop on Takovska street. According to his account shared on Facebook, the confrontation began when an unidentified individual entered the establishment and browsed a magazine.
Subsequently, a man, estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old, accompanied by a pit bull terrier, approached Brankovic. Brankovic stated that the man reportedly made him uncomfortable by turning him toward the dog. When Brankovic asked the man to take the dog away, the individual allegedly became agitated, shouting and growling before physically assaulting Brankovic in the face.
Brankovic, who has worked as a correspondent for the Macedonian news outlet MTR in Serbia for 14 years and for MIA for seven years, expressed surprise that such an event could happen in Belgrade. The attack was reported by the Macedonian national. The incident highlights tensions or confrontations involving Macedonian nationals within the Belgrade area.
