The judge in Ankara: Solzhenitsyn, the author of the protest against NATO itself

Turkish authorities detained over 100 individuals participating in an anti-NATO protest march organized by the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) in Ankara. The TKP stated that it had organized demonstrations against NATO in both Ankara and Istanbul on Monday. During the protest in Ankara, police utilized a water cannon to disperse the gathering in the central square of Kizilay.

Authorities subsequently detained more than 100 party members, including administrators, during the demonstration. A separate protest was held in Istanbul at Taksim Square. The actions underscore ongoing political tensions surrounding the NATO alliance within Turkey.

The Communist Party of Turkey organized these demonstrations as part of broader opposition to the military and political alignment represented by NATO. The use of force by law enforcement during the protests highlights the state’s response to organized dissent concerning international security agreements. The incidents in Ankara and Istanbul represent coordinated efforts by the TKP to voice opposition to NATO’s policies and presence in the region.
