The commencement of the custodial sentence for former Karpoš mayor, Stevcho Jakimovski, has been postponed pending further review. Jakimovski had initially requested a delay in serving his sentence due to health concerns, a request that was initially supported by the main criminal court in Skopje and accepted by the judge responsible for sanctions. However, the judicial process has encountered delays regarding the necessary medical documentation.
The designated private health institutions that Jakimovski cited have not yet provided the required reports to the Court. On June 26th, the judge issued an urgency notice, emphasizing that these reports are essential for the Court to determine the appropriate timing for the beginning of his imprisonment. Consequently, the actual entry into custody remains suspended until the Court issues its final determination.
