The city of Skopje has announced unsavory charges for the illegal export of shells and scrap metal from three locations

The Municipality of Skopje’s inspectorate conducted an inspection targeting illegal dumping of construction waste and debris across several areas of the city. According to Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski, the inspection identified three separate locations where unauthorized waste disposal occurred. Two of these sites were situated at the airport, while the third was located on Franklin Roosevelt Street in the central part of Skopje.

Mayor Gjorgjievski stated that the dumping activity poses significant risks, noting that the accumulated waste endangers the environment, the health of the citizenry, and the overall image of the municipality. Authorities confirmed that the individuals responsible for the illegal dumping have been identified and are currently under investigation. In response to the violations, the municipality announced substantial penalties.

The responsible parties face a fine calculated at three times the estimated value of the debris dumped from the three specific locations. Furthermore, the mayor specified that those found liable must report directly to the Municipality of Skopje offices to settle the mandated fine. These actions underscore the local government’s commitment to maintaining environmental standards and ensuring compliance with waste disposal regulations within the urban area.
