The Municipality of Bitola, in conjunction with the International Folk Festival of Songs and Games, “Ilindenski danovi,” which falls under the broader “Bit Fest” celebration, has announced a major cultural highlight for residents and visitors. The centerpiece attraction is the traditional Folklore Runway, titled “S popna i igra niz bitolske ulice.”
This significant cultural procession promises to showcase the region’s rich heritage. Hundreds of students, representing both local and international backgrounds, are scheduled to participate.
They will parade in authentic, traditional folk costumes, transforming the historic central thoroughfare into a living display of folklore, music, and cultural continuity. The parade will commence at 18:30 hours, starting from the “Magnolia” square. The procession will then move through the prominent shirok sokak, culminating at the plateau situated in front of the Officer’s House.
This main event sequence will be marked by a traditional opening ceremony, featuring a candle lighting ritual dedicated to the history of the “Ilindenski danovi,” an event that has been celebrated for over half a century. These planned events are set to draw substantial crowds, making the shirok sokak the focal point of the cultural calendar. The runway serves not merely as a parade, but as a vibrant journey down the sokak, ensuring that the deep cultural roots and artistic traditions of Bitola are prominently celebrated for all attendees.
