Assembly Rejects Interpellation Against Interior Minister Toskofski

Skopje – The Macedonian Assembly failed to pass an interpellation motion targeting Minister of Internal Affairs Panče Toskofski following a vote on Wednesday. The motion, presented by the Left opposition, was defeated with a vote of 58 against and 19 in favor. Leftist deputy Amar Meciovici presented the interpellation, arguing that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is contributing to instability within the Republic of North Macedonia.

He asserted that the country “is not without danger because of the Ministry of Internal Affairs” and highlighted a perceived lack of structural reforms within the internal affairs sector. Meciovici’s statement emphasized concerns regarding the functionality of the country’s protective apparatus. He argued that routine activities are susceptible to undue influence due to the current state of the internal affairs system.

The motion specifically cited the need for the ministry to implement changes aimed at mitigating potential risks to citizens. The debate centered on the effectiveness of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and its ability to address ongoing security challenges. The Assembly’s decision reflects a significant division within parliament regarding the ministry’s performance and strategic direction.
