Students at Nikola Karev without music and in the spirit of the summer session study with the saints

The student platform “Studentska” has raised concerns regarding the ongoing lack of essential services at the “Nikola Karev” student house in Ohrid, noting that students have been without electricity for six days. The platform stated that institutional authorities have failed to provide any clear information or resolution regarding the prolonged outage. Furthermore, the students allege that the direct costs associated with the electricity supply have been passed directly onto the residents.

The concerns are compounded by historical issues; the platform reported that during February, the residence was previously without electricity for over 30 hours due to outstanding billing issues. Beyond the power disruption, the students have also reported experiencing prolonged difficulties obtaining hot water. In response to the initial shortages, a temporary arrangement was established, granting the students access to communal showers located near the facility’s lifeguards.

However, this temporary measure has reportedly become non-functional due to the increased costs associated with electricity. The situation highlights significant difficulties faced by the students regarding basic utilities. The combination of the extended power outage, the lack of hot water, and the failure of alternative arrangements has prompted the student platform to seek official intervention.

Authorities have not yet issued a definitive timeline or plan to restore normal services to the housing complex.
